COUNTRY PROFILE

In the Republic of Congo, young people are struggling to find an interest in scientific fields.
In the general education system, it is observed that less than 30% of children choose a
scientific orientation. Girls (58%) who generally represent a higher number than boys in
schools, are found even fewer than boys when it comes to scientific fields.
Children need to be sensitized about the importance of education, particularly of STEM and
shown the opportunities that only education particularly STEM could offer.
This is the reason why, for this “Science week” we would like to organize a week under the
theme of “Young Innovators of the Republic of Congo” to ignite the scientific spirit in young
Congolese students particularly young Congolese girls and give tribute to innovators
particularly working in rural areas and not known in the outside world
